Importing MXP Files
Cricket Statz can import match export .MXP files from our old PC software and from Total Cricket Scorer. You start by exporting the matches from these packages into a file.
Tip: If this is your first time doing this then it is recommended to start with a single match or two so that you become familiar with the player name matching process.
Step 1 - Logging In
Log in to Cricket Statz administration at https://www2.cricketstatz.com/
Step 2 - Commencing the Import
Click setup/Import MXP File to start the import.
Click Choose files to select the MXP file from your local system. Hit upload to commence the upload.
Step 3 - Matching Division, Team and Venue names
Cricket Statz will read the MXP file and attempt to match the division, team and venue names with those in your online database. If they are not matched then it will ask you to add them.
Note that it will also attempt to match with any aliases that have been entered. An alias entry allows you to match the name without having to alter the main name. For example, if you call your venue "The Sydney Cricket Ground" then you can also add an alias of "SCG" to the venue record so that any grounds named "SCG" in the MXP file will also get matches to "The Sydney Cricket Ground" venue record. You only have to set up the alias once - all subsequent imports will re-use the alias.
Step 4 - Matching Players and Officials
It will also try to match player names and officials to those in the database. If it can't find these names then it will ask you to add them (or add an alias to an existing record).
When all players are correctly matched then your match import is complete.
Congratulations! You have now imported the MXP-based match in to Cricket Statz.
In detail - how does player name matching work?
Cricket Statz will try a variety of ways to match a player record in the database. When detecting a player name such as John Smith of Team ABC (of Club ABC) it will do the following player record searches:
-
Look for Firstname=John AND Lastname=Smith AND Current Club=Club ABC
-
Look for Alias=John Smith AND Current Club=Club ABC
