The system is developed by Mark Sinclair. Mark is a data scientist/AI engineer living in Australia and has over 30 years of experience developing sports analytics software.
History
Cricket Statz was first released in 1997, back when the internet was in its infancy and PC's were everywhere. I was playing local club cricket at the time and saw that the game needed some good stats software so that we all could produce stats like what was seen at international level. Cricket Statz was born.
Cricket Statz was originally developed as software for the PC but began its transformation as a web service in 2005. Both the PC software and the web service were developed in parallel from 2005 to 2017.
In 2017, the PC software was finally retired due to the ongoing challenges many users faced with managing and backing up files, the rise in popularity of Apple desktop systems and the growing the prevalence of mobile platforms. It made a lot of sense to have this delivered as a web service.
Since then, the web service has gone from strength to strength. It is actively being improved with new reports and new features being released on a monthly basis. It has been developed to work nicely in both desktop and mobile browsers so that it can be accessed from any device in any location.
