Hi Mark.So if I created an alias for the misspelled name, and imported the match.Is the matched linked to the alias or to the players name? In other words if I delete the misspelled alias would the match also not find its place?

Matches link to player record id’s. You can safely change both aliases and player names without breaking these links. This includes deleting aliases.
And I should add that it looks like you are mastering the online system!
