Would it be possible to have an indicator added to the match scorecard input page, where the teams, grade, results etc are input that can be used to identify a match that was abandoned without any play. That indicator could then be used to be able to identify the player games where they were selected into a match that did not start. MyCricket has this feature on the games played screen, you can interrogate that system for all matches excluding "abandoned, forfeited and washout games" or you can choose to include them in the game count matches. We had 3 teams sit in the clubrooms all day yesterday hoping the rain would clear.

Hi David,
Having the indicator aside, can you give more detail on why you need to filter these games out? I don't quite understand the need - so I would say I am missing something. Give me some specific examples of where this is causing problems. Thanks!
(and don't forget to vote/like your own suggestion)
When I get a game (or three) like yesterday I put the selected team into a scorecard with all players as DNB. The innings & match is recorded as abandoned. This adds a match to the players game tally. Not everyone is of the opinion that these games should be counted towards milestones. It would be handy to be able exclude games where no play took place in the milestone counts if that is a club or individuals preference.
If I could try and summarise - is it simply that you don't want matches to count against a player's stats if a single ball hasn't been bowled in the match?
I would like to be able to have the option of excluding them or show how many such games are in a players tally, eg if a player has been selected in a team 165 times but in 2 games there was no play due to weather or an opposition forfeit it might show as 165 (2) on the individuals page or similarly when looking at the page that reports all players game numbers. I don't want to totally loose the record of those matches.
Let's see how many votes it gets.
In the meantime, here are a couple of workarounds to consider:
Just leave the rained out matches unapproved - these matches won't count as a "match" played for the players or
Consider not putting the players on the scorecard
Personally I’m not a fan of this. It doesn’t work very well in MyCricket either….cause you can only turn the option off for abandoned or forfeitEd matches when running the stats for a season - it is very difficult to do it when individual clicks on their own stats. As i have had many players telling me that theyre playing their 100th match this weekend and I say it’s only their 98th match cause it includes a forfeit and a full wash out. Our club does not credit people with a match if a ball hasn’t been bowled.
the simple solution is not to list any players on the match scorecard - I don’t see why you would need to know who was selected in match they never played in…
From the web site of the Association of Cricket Statisticians and Historians. Frequently Asked Questions. When does a match begin? Once the toss has been made, a match has officially started – so even if it is rained off without a ball having been bowled, it still counts as an ‘appearance’ for the 22 players involved. When does an innings begin? Each of the teams’ innings start upon the call of ‘Play’ by the umpire at the start of the innings. So if – as happened in the Third Test between England and Pakistan in August 2020 – two batsmen enter the playing area in the expectation of starting the innings, but play is then called off for the day without an umpire calling ‘Play’, the team is permitted to start its innings on the following day with different opening batsmen if it so wishes. Batsmen’s innings are timed from the moment when they cross the boundary into the playing area to start their personal innings. This does not, however, apply to the two opening batsmen, whose innings are timed from the call of ‘Play’ at the start of the team’s innings
